London Institute of Banking and Finance Chairs Digital Debate

Leading FinTech applications were under the microscope at this week’s MoneyLive Digital Banking 2018 Conference in London. Alastair Tyler, International Director of the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) chaired a debate exploring the latest ideas from European FinTech companies.

LIBF is the Academy partner responsible for our School of Banking and Finance. An organisation with a 140 year history, it offers a wide array of subject matter and learning opportunities with leading international experts. The London Institute of Banking and Finance is a centre of excellence for professional learning and a University College in the heart of London’s financial district. With a career including board positions at LIBF and senior roles at Barclays and Deloitte, Alastair Tyler combines his industry knowledge with an animated and warm style of presenting that engages audiences.

The MoneyLive debate included a demo by Finn.ai, a conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) application that handles banking requirements on behalf of its customers. Tandem, a challenger bank, is building deep predictive relationships to streamline the banking experience and Bonify is an innovative app that allows customers to view their credit score in real time to understand factors that affect their ranking.

From the various speeches at the conference and the comments from the floor, it became clear that the industry understands the need for digital skills to become an intrinsic element of the company culture. It was also apparent that the banking industry must make major changes to benefit fully from the potential of Artificial Intelligence. All in all, the MoneyLive debate provided a thought provoking afternoon at the culmination of an excellent conference on digital banking.
