Abu Dhabi Global Market is a key stakeholder in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2020 which takes place 11-18 January.
The event is the largest sustainability gathering in the Middle East, held annually each January. Dedicated to furthering our understanding of the major social, economic and environmental trends shaping the world’s sustainable development, ADSW has been formed to empowering the global community to mitigate climate change and address the energy and sustainability challenges of the future.
This year’s agenda will include the inaugural Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum (ADSFF), the first event in Abu Dhabi focused on increasing the adoption of sustainable finance, and driving capital towards investments that have positive economic, social and environmental impacts. The ADSFF will include addresses by ADGM Chairman, H.E. Ahmed Al Sayegh; H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment; and Mr Alex Fraser, Chief Executive of ADGM Academy partner, The London Institute of Banking & Finance.
ADGM Academy will be developing a programme of Sustainable Finance Education through its partnership with The London Institute of Banking & Finance, to provide certified professional education in this new and important area.
“Educating the next generation of finance professionals will require us to embed sustainability into the everyday workings of our industry. The heroes of the sustainable economy will be those who can maximise opportunities for growth while accepting that sustainable practices are not only critical for our future but make good business sense. We are committed to helping ADGM Academy generate a clear and informative debate that accepts the evolving nature of sustainability worldwide and prepares the people of the United Arab Emirates for this new way of life,” comments Alex Fraser, Chief Executive, The London Institute of Banking & Finance
Hamad Al Mazrouei, Managing Director of ADGM Academy explains: “An enquiring and analytical mindset, combined with a strong social conscience, will be key attributes for the local and international talent who will one day hold positions of responsibility in UAE and the region. We are excited by our partnership with the London Institute of Banking and Finance and the way that it will help to embed sustainable finance within the professional community. This is the first step in a communication and education programme which will help the next generation prepare for a truly sustainable future.”
Participants of ADSFF will have the first opportunity to recommend and shape the proposed architecture of ADGM’s sustainable finance hub framework, influencing business behaviour and long-term finance practice in the local and global community.
